Full Description
NG45SW 11 446 527.
A widespread group of about 33 shieling is situated in the Lon Mor valley, on the SE slopes of Beinn a Chapuill, between the 500 and 800 foot contours, at NG 446 527.
The shielings are of earth and stone construction, and are of the twin-cell trye. Most of them are collapsed and are reduced to turf-covered mounds with some loose stone showing, and depressions in the tops.
Visited by OS (A S P) 30 April 1961.
There are two groups, a larger eastern group and a western group. The latter includes an oval embanked enclosure with a 'ha-ha' manner of construction facing the interior which contains a central raised platform. Possibly stock enclosure (see NG82NE 14 for similar monument, given there as 'disc-barrow').
