This large farmstead has a U-shaped plan with extensions and a central in-filled court. Nearby is a separate range incorporating bothies. Wall recesses for down-pipes are amongst the architectural detailing. The buildings are of stone and have slate roofs and have been altered considerably for modern agricultural use (2000).

A detailed report on these buildings was submitted in connection with an outline planning application for conversion of the steading and renovation of the house. The original W-shaped steading had been built by the time of the 1872 1st edition Ordnance Survey map. The dairy cottage and Allangrange Mains Cottage had also been built at that time. East Barn, Middle Barn and West Barn are all stone built with slate roofs, with floors of moulded concrete. There are considerable number of later additions and alterations.
