Full Description
A group of shieling huts in Gleann Bharcasaig, Skye.
Lying on the north side of the Abhainn Bharcasaig Burn at a height of 91m OD is a group of single and double-celled structures on green mounds, numbering perhaps 8 in all, very little stone work is visible and most are in poor condition. Information from C Swanson and A Johnstone, 7 April 1989. <1>
Previously recorded at grid ref. NG 2288 4146, updated and corrected with information from Orbost Estate Survey (1998), M Wildgoose. Site no. 49, nine shielings were recorded.

A close grouping of at least nine turf and turf/stone shielings on grassy mounds, consisting of four small single cell structures. Four double cell figure of eight structures. One three celled structure. All are in poor condition and few entrances are visible. <2>
The 'corrected' grid reference of NG 2287 4145 is also inaccurate as the features are clearly visible on vertical aerial photography taken in 2020 some 50m to the west. <3>
