Full Description
NH70SE 8 centred on 7530 0232.
Centred at NH 75300232 a depopulated settlement of 13 buildings and 2 enclosures. The buildings vary in size from c 12.0m by c 4.0m to c 7.0m by 3.0m. Only the foundations remain.
The settlement has been partially destroyed by extensions to Kingussie Golf Course and by modern development at NH 7530 0235.
It would appear that the name of the settlement is "Toman an t-Seomair' although this could not be verified. Unable to find the reason and date of depopulation.
Visited by OS (R L) 29 November 1966.
Fifteen unroofed buildings, two enclosures and some walls are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1872, sheet lxxxvii). Two roofed, eight unroofed buildings and two enclosures are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1994).
