OS 6" map, (1963)
Along the slopes of a west-facing hillside are eleven hut circles and numerous associated field clearance heaps discovered during field investigation.
Visited by OS (E G C) 7 May 1961.
This is a settlement of 11 hut circles (A-K). The area is deep-ploughed and tree-planted and the huts, with the exception of 'H', are badly mutilated.
Hut 'H' is in a clearing and is 11.5m diameter inside a heather-covered wall 0.6m high and spread 2.5m broad; an entrance was probably from the SW quarter but the wall arc here has disappeared.
The other huts range in internal dimension between 12 by 11m and 14 by 12.5m for three oval examples and from 6.5 -12m diameter for the rest. Entrances are only evident in 'A', 'B' and 'F' and are from the SE quarter, on the longer axis when applicable. Walls in 'A' and 'B' are 0.4m high and spread 2m broad. 'F' and 'I', levelled into the slope, are more robust, particularly the former which stands to 0.9m high with a wall spread 2.5m broad.
The field clearance heaps are no longer discernible.
Visited by OS (J M) 23 March 1977.
