Full Description

The remains of this farmstead, which is situated on a SE-facing slope 500m SW of Elrig farmhouse, comprise two ruined buildings and at least two enclosures. The larger of the two buildings measures 8.5m from N to S by 2.9m transversely within walls 0.65m thick. It has a possible bedneuk, 1.55m deep, in the E wall. The other building, situated 40m to the SW, measures 6.2m in length and 3.4m in breadth within walls 0.7m thick. There is an outshot at the NE end and a plinth against the NW side. The entrance is on the SE. There is an enclosure to the NW of this building and the remains of other walls between the two buildings. Three roofed buildings are depicted here on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet xxxi), but are not named. The buildings were all roofless by the time of the 2nd edition of the same map (1905).
