Full Description

A complex arrangement of linear boulder alignments/boundaries lying on the improved grassland to the west side of the A863. These boundaries have as a focus a multi-cell structure similar in plan to a multi-cell shieling. The visible components of the cell structure are a square boulder-built cell measuring 3.0m square over walls 0.5m thick which has at least two circular cells abutting its NE side. No entrances are visible. In all instances only the tops of the boulders, forming both the alignments and the cells, are visible poking through the peat overburden. In many places the alignments disappear completely. These missing sections can be located below the peat by probing. <1>
