Full Description
Centred 6357 3448
(Area: NH 6357 3448) The 'Phantom Battle' has been seen about here. It has been seen twice since the war, by Mr MacKintosh of Midtown, and is well known.
Information from Major CJ Shaw 5 February 1962.
According to Mr MacIntosh of Midtown - the Phantom Battle is usually seen at NH 636 344 and consists of 'oriental temples, much cavalry and foot soldiers, and on one occasion 3 ton trucks, invariably regimented, in a haze or mist in an area of peat bog'.
Major Shaw of Tordarroch also states in all seriousness that his friends have seen a similar 'mirage', that the ruined house at the SW end of Loch Ashie, and the farm of Druimashie are haunted, and that he and his wife have both seen 'The Phantom Car', a grey Morris Minor which mysteriously vanishes on the Essich Road.
Visited by OS (AA) 4 March 1970.
