A mill pond and dam, forming part of the extensive water supply to the corn and barley mill at Dores, are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet xix). The mill pond and dam are fed by mill leads running from a series of mill ponds (NH63NW 73.01 NH 6075 3556, NH63NW 73.02 NH 6084 3568 and NH63NW 73.03 NH 6117 3423) on the NW-facing slopes to the SE.
