A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were carried out in advance of a new water main between Lochend, Dores Primary School and Loch Ashie Water Treatment Works, a distance of approximately 6.5km. The desk-based assessment identified three buildings on the 1st edition OS not noted in the NMRS (NH 6157 3692, NH 6352 3604 and NH 6095 3723).

A roofed building recorded as a smithy is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1875, sheet xix), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1975).
