Two dykes, to the W and S of Fernish (NM55SE 31) were recorded during a pre-afforestation survey at Auchnasaul. The first dyke extends southwards from the W edge of Fernish along the W side of the modern boundary to the unnamed burn. The second dyke runs, roughly parallel with the present E to W field boundary around the NE corner of wooded ground, westwards across the track for some 210m before turning southwards. The course of this dyke was not followed once it entered the adjacent field to the S.
