This weir, which is 600 yards long, carries the River Ness out of Loch Dochfour and separates it from the course of the canal.

This weir is clearly marked on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, sheet xix), on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1905, sheet xix), on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1975) and on the OS Basic Scale raster map (ND).
