This pier acted as a steamer terminal on the canal (NN17NW 11.00). It was situated at the top of the Banavie Locks (NN17NW 11.01) and benefitted from the opening of a branch line of the West Highland Railway in 1895. The station (NN17NW 11.05) was just to the S of the pier and at a lower level than the canal.
G Hutton 1992.
This pier is first shown on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1903, sheet cxxxix), marked as a landing stage. It is marked in the same way on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1975) and on the OS Basic Scale raster map (ND). The pier is located just to the N of the Banavie Locks (NN17NW 11.01) and lies on the E bank of the canal where it widens out into a basin (NN17NW 11.02).
