Eight shieling-huts, or pens, a small clearance cairn and a dyke, situated on the S-facing slopes overlooking an unnamed loch, were recorded during a pre-afforestation survey of Drumbeg Common Grazings. The shieling-huts are small, ranging from 0.8m by 0.8m to 1.7m by 1.4m internally and are generally defined by singles row of stones. The largest structure (NMRS MS 899/188, no.2f) has collapsed stone walls spread up to 0.8m in width and standing up to 0.7m in height. One structure (NMRS MS 899/188, no.2g) is triangular and is defined by rows of stones, 1.2m and 1.3m in length, built up against the S side of a small crag. The dyke lies to the N of the structures and is composed of a 30m long line of boulders. The cairn is situated to the S and measures 2m in diameter and is 0.3m high. There are a number of grassy areas, partly covered in bracken, indicating drier ground in contrast to the surrounding ground which is larger heather-covered.
