Full Description
Two dykes, bounding a cultivated area on the west side of the island, were recorded during a pre-afforestation survey of Eilean Fladday. The dykes, which are about 10m apart, extend westwards from the township with the south dyke reaching the shore on the west side of the island. Some linear clearance cairns, 7m apart, lies to the south of the dykes with other clearance cairns to the east. Condition: The dykes are well preserved in the middle becoming more fragmentary at either end. The dyke to the south can be traced from the settlement all the way to the west shore, while the parallel dyke to the north peters out at the west end. The strip cultivation is well defined. <1>
