The faint cropmarks of a possible settlement and linear cropmarks has been revealed by oblique aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 1995) 500m NNE of Essich farmsteading. The settlement is sub-circular in plan with an internal diameter of about 50m. A linear cropmark, aligned ENE-W, and visible for at least 120m, passes 10m to the S. A second linear feature lies immediately to the W, is aligned N-S, and measures at least 100m in length. The appearance of these cropmarks may suggest that they may be geological rather than archaeological in origin.
Information from RCAHMS (KJ) 3 November 1999.
