Full Description

NH62SW 2 6337 2468.

At NH 6337 2468 near the highest point of a low ridge, is a stone-walled hut measuring c. 9.0m in diameter between the centres of a wall spread to c. 3.0m. The simple entrance is in the E. In the SW the hut opens onto another compartment or annexe c. 7.5m by c. 3.5m which is an integral part of the hut; there is no definite trace of division between the hut and the annexe. A few outer wall facing stones are visible mainly in the S arc and a natural boulder is incorporated in the same arc. (See 1/250 survey).
The hut lies at the SW end of a system of contemporary fields marked by stone clearance heaps and occasional lynchets and the hut itself faces onto a field measuring about 30.0m by 20.0m. At the NE end of the main ridge the fields end on a ruinous wall which continues intermittently along the SE slopes. The cultivation carries on on a lower ridge to the NE.
Hut surveyed at 1/10,000.
Visited by OS (A A) 21 Feburary 1972.

There may be three additional hut circles at NGR 263359 824784, 263379 824707 and 263392 824801 (based on 1999-2011 Aerial Photography).
