A group of twenty six grass-grown mounds extend across a terrace on and E of Cnoc Rugail. The majority are oval in shape, and range in size from 4.8m by 4.3m to 9.5m by 8.5m and from 0.2m to 0.6m in height; the rest are circular, measuring between 5.5m and 7.5m in diameter. Several have been sited on top of natural outcrops, but, for the most part, they appear to rise from the boggy surface of the terrace. Shallow depressions are visible in the tops of most of the mounds, and some have a scatter of stones protruding. Their date and function are uncertain, although the depression in their tops suggests that they are the remains of turf huts, the compact character of the cluster perhaps indicating a shieling.
(Canna 752-75, 978-9).
Visited by RCAHMS (SPH, ARG), 7 April 1995.
