For field-system, lazy-beds and field clearance cairns between NG 2295 0509 and NG 2371 0556, see NG20NW 131.01.
This large grass-grown mound lies in an area of lazy-bed cultivation and is overlain by a subrectangular enclosure on the SE (for which, see NG20NW 131.01). The mound is subrectangular on plan and measures 14m from NNW to SSE by 7m and 0.8m in height; it has been damaged by rabbit burrowing, but from the upcast of rabbit scrapes several sherds of pottery have been recovered, together with a possible fragment of a shale object. The enclosure, which is depicted on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map, measures 5.5m from NNW to SSE by 4.6m within a stone wall 0.9m in thickness and 0.6m in height.
(Canna 439, 991).
Visited by RCAHMS (IMS, ARG), 30 June 1994.
Sherds of pottery, a flint flake and half of a broken spindle-whorl were recovered from the upcast of rabbit burrows into this mound during fieldwork in May 2001.
(Finds to be deposited in the NMS).
Visited by RCAHMS (ARG, SPH), 10 May 2001.
