For township and farmstead of Garrisdale (NG 2163 0532), see NG20NW 44. For field-system, lazy-beds and field clearance cairns at NG 2123 0501 to NG 2179 0557, see NG20NW 129.02.

A rectangular building, a hut and a circular mound lie on sloping ground on the E side of the burn at Garrisdale. A second mound lies 60m to the NNW.
The building (NG 2176 0544) measures 12.9m from NW to SE by 3m transversely within walls reduced to a boulder-faced stony bank 1.1m in thickness and 0.5m in height. It is round-angled externally but square internally, and contains two mounds that may indicate the position of partitions. The hut lies downslope to the SW and is rectangular on plan, measuring 4.1m from E to W by 2m within a stony bank 0.7m in thickness and 0.3m in height. Traces of a stone wall extend from its W end. The circular mound, which lies adjacent, is probably the remains of another small hut and contains some stones; it is 5.5m in diameter and 0.4m high; a rabbit scrape into the mound on the W yielded two sherds of pottery.
The second mound (NG 2175 0551) to the NNW measures 10.5m from NNW to SSE by 9.5m. This too contains a considerable quantity of stones and is probably the remains of a hut. It has been damaged by rabbit burrowing, and a sherd of pottery was discovered in the upcast from a rabbit scrape. The line of an orthostatic wall runs WNW downslope from the W side of the mound, but no clear relationship between the two was observed. To the SE, a further stretch of wall can be followed, extending from the crest of a rock outcrop out into an area of boggy ground.
Traces of lazy-bed cultivation are visible downslope to the W, and the area is shown under cultivation in 1805 on an estate map of Canna when it belonged to the farm of Garrisdale (NG20NW 44).
(Canna 606-9).
