Full Description

Telephone call from a Mr Patterson, that as a boy just before the war they discovered a human skull on the beach. Probable that there were other bones as well. Police did not take action as believed to be ancient. Local folklore then was that there was an old cemetery in the area. Mr Patterson reports that is was found perhaps 35-40 yds from the bridge of the current bridge. The beach was walled after the war, but this has now broken down. Skull was just above the high water mark perhaps 9' down - reported old raised beach in the area .
Nothing marked on 1st ed Os in this area except old path around the point. - HAW 7/2004
