Full Description
A selection of dressed masonry pieces have been identified within a garden wall in Auldcastle Road. Several more carved stones were recovered from the garden during the construction of an extension to the house. It is thought that the stones could represent the remains of a grand building (possibly the early castle) however, they may simply have been collected and brought to the site by a previous occupant of the house. The stones were noted by George Chisholm. Photographs of the stones have been sent to HS and the NMS for dating.
