Full Description
The 1st edition Ordnance Survey map depicts a roofed rectilinear building here, within a rectilinear enclosure system with a larger structure (house) to the south. The settlement is annotated 'Soilshan'. Current OS mapping shows the settlement as 'Soilsean' and shows that the house has been developed but the byre remains as the 1st ed OS.
A planning application (IN-03-1199) to upgrade the byre to a dwelling required the provision of a Photographic Record. A number of photographs were taken of the structures and the general area prior to the start of the development. The photographs (taken by Brian Hall) are held in Assoc. Docs.
