Full Description
The 2nd edition Ordnance Survey map depicts a linear building annotated as 'Paupers Cottages' here. The 1st edition OS shows an irregular enclosure with no structures present (the cottages have presumably replaced the former buildings depicted on the 1st edition OS and described in NN69SW0026 as part of Balgowan township). Current OS mapping annotates the building as Tighbeg.
A planning application (BS-02-183) to extend and renovate the building required the provision of a Photographic Record. A series of photographs was taken of the structure and the general area prior to the start of the development. The photographs were taken by Terry Levinthal and are held in the CD library. A short desk-based assessment was also compiled by Mr Levinthal and Robin James.
