Full Description

The Wester Ross village of Stromeferry has a rather special sessile oak (Quercus petraea). The Brahan Seer, Kenneth Odhar, prophesied that it would be a very bad day for the people of the district if any two men could link arms around the trunk of the big oak tree, which stands by the roadside between Achmore and Braeintra. Thankfully, this has never been achieved! The oak stands out as the biggest in the area by far and the trunk, measuring 147cm in diameter, is impossible for two men to encircle. A fine old tree steeped in local folklore and legend.

Information supplied by Treefest Scotland 2002 - this tree is classed as one of the top 100 Heritage trees of Scotland.
