Full Description
3 Test pits for septic tank & soakaways (temporar) for banger site W of the Broch, planning app 03/117/FULSU. Dug in spite of warning that area archaeologically sensitive & watching brief required. Pits still open when site visit made to adjacent broch 2/7/2003. The two (small) to the west appeared to have no deposits & stopped at gravel layer. Most easterly was deeper and had truncated deeper areas of topsoil c15-20cm, ie markedly different to other two areas. No obvious finds in spoil heaps. Checked areas of erosion uphill to E & NE, but nothing visible - HAW 7/2003
