Full Description
Four small trial pits were dug in advance of electricity cabling for new lodges. They lay parallel to the large bank/walls on the north side of the camp field and did not contain any obvious features. Topsoil varied in depth from c.30cm at the western end to12-15cm at the eastern end. A further three pits in the middle of the camp field also revealed nothing but very shallow topsoil (c10cm).
NB much of this field has been severely truncated by waterworks (not recorded) - see plan - HAW 5/2003
