Full Description

Report 19 (site 14) - Archaeological Survey of a proposed Hydro Scheme at Loch Poll, Assynt, Sutherland. C Dagg, 01/12/98

Site 14: Water management feature on Loch an Tolla Bhaid inflow. A retaining wall along the south bank of the channel flowing from Loch na Loinne, extending out into Loch an Tolla Bhaid for a further 7m. The function of this would possibly be to prevent livestock, and particularly sheep, from crossing the channel where it is wide and
shallow (cattle would not hesitate to wade out and round the wall). <1>

NGR adjusted based on 2009 vertical aerial photographs. <2>
