Full Description

A shooting or shepherd's bothy, originally well-built with mortared walls two windows and a chimney. Visited by JW 13-12-02 in advance of quarrying. Linked photos starting PC130... were taken by me then. See sketch plan for details.

There is evidence of a small kailyard or holding pen to the west.

The inner face of the west wall had fallen in. Some corrugated iron nearby suggests this was from the roof. The inner wall faces were possibly blackened by fire.

The whole area is shown as scrub and open woodland on the 1st edition 6-inch OS map, which shows this building as roofed (c. 1880)
