Full Description

Sluice at GR given above on 1st ed OS lies on bank that forms the N edge of a mill pond to S. A building is marked on the NE side of the mill pond, not obviously in the correct place for a mill building, Unroofed by 2nd ed OS, and possibly identified as "long house" by Mercer as site 544 in the woods (see separate SMR entry). Millhill, the house to the NW of the pond, is probably too far away to be a mill related buiding. - HAW 11/2002

p157: Mercer survey 1980-1 describes 543b as ?mill. Millpond, sluice, millrace & weir lying to NW of Mon 543a. There is no evidence of the actual mill. (NB the GRs he gives are very broad and the map small with mon 543 marked in a slightly different area - but no other mill related evid in that area, so almost certainly refers to mill evidence above. - hAW 11/2002
