Full Description

Typical 2 chamber structure (see sketch) on stone footings. Smaller structure to E side and enclosure also in E quadrant. No obvious evidence of other structures (ie not a settlement). Therefore, have assumed this to be "improvement" farm (shepherd's house) from late 18th C or early 19th C.
H M Rogers, Invergarry, 1998.

The original location of these features was given as NH 11320 01500, with a related name for that location given as 'Doire na h'Airidh', however, there is nothing matching the description at or near this location. From analysis of verical photographs It is clear, however, that transposition of the second and third digits of the easting has occurred and the northing is slightly inaccurate by c.100m and the actual grid reference should have been NH 13120 01600. The ruins of a 2-room building and enclosure exactly as shown in the supplied sketch and with a view to the southwest matching that in the first of the two supplied photographs is visible at this location. It is shown and labelled 'Poulary' with a second sub-rectangular enclosure to the south on the OS 1st Edition map. The second enclosure and a third immediately abutting the first and the building are also visible in aerial photography though the southern extent of the second enclosure appears to have been cut slightly by the modern alignment of the road shown as a track on the 1st Edition map. <1> <2>
