Full Description
The remains of a rectangular grave yard are depicted by the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1872, sheet cii), 240m S of Ruthven Barracks. A copy of the map, annotated by the OS Archaeology Division, describes the graveyard as enclosed by a mutilated, turf-covered, stony bank. The enclosure is said to have been the burial-ground of the barracks, but no gravestones were visible. It is not depicted on the current edition of the 1:10000 scale map (1994).
Information from RCAHMS (IFr) 20 December 2000.
This graveyard also appears on the OS 1901 map.
Is this actually the same site as MHG31516 which only has a marginal grid reference? [IS-L 10/05/2019]
