This township which is situated on the N edge of the terrace cut by the River Calder, comprises six buildings. The last traces of a seventh structure can be detected on the flood-plain of the river.
The three better-preserved buildings range in size from 8.6m to 26.5m in length by about 3m in breadth within faced-rubble walls, between 0.7m and 0.8m thick. Where best-preserved these are up to 0.5m high, but generally they are not more than 0.2m high (KING95 146, 148, 150). The walls of the other four are reduced to low stony or earthen banks (KING95 145, 147, 149, 815). The longest building has a sheep-shelter in the form of an arc of drystone dyke built across it (KING95 146).
Two unroofed buildings and two enclosures are depicted on the 1st edition OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1872, sheet ci). One of the buildings depicted is the structure being washed away on the floodplain by the River Calder (NN 6720 9875), the other is the longest building on the terrace (NN 6732 9883, KING95 146).
