Full Description

This hut-circle lies on a level terrace at the foot of rock outcrops forming the W side of the ridge known as Cnoc Sheangan; it is bisected by a wire fence on metal stanchions running from N to S along the side of the ridge. The hut-circle measures about 9.5m from N to S by 8.2m transversely within a wall spread up to 2m in thickness by 0.6m in height. The entrance was probably on the S, where the wire fence passes through the line of the wall, but another gap has been made for the fence on the N. The terrace upon which the hut-circle is situated appears to have been enclosed by a stony bank, whose line is marked by several stones protruding up through the heather. The terrace itself is about 30m wide, and the bank runs along its leading edge, where the ground drops away into a boggy gully on the W. Some 35m N of the hut-circle, the bank appears to turn at right angles across the terrace and disappears at the foot of the rock outcrops; the course of the bank to the S is less clear, but it again appears to cross the terrace to the outcrops, thus forming an enclosure approximately 100m long and 30m wide.
