Full Description

In a wooded area at the foot of a steep cliff about 5m from the N side of the road from Inverie to Airor where it is joined by the road from Glaschoille House are the remains of a rectangular structure, possibly with an outshot at its SW end.
Measuring 15m WNW/ESE by 4m within wall founds about 0.7m thick and up to 0.4m high. There is a NNE/SSW wall, 0.4m thick and 0.3m high, possibly a partition, 7m from its ESE end. There is an entrance 0.7m wide in the NNE wall about 1m WNW of the 'partition' wall. There is no clear evidence of an entrance into the other 'compartment' but a gap in the SSW wall, about 4m from the ESE end suggests that that was possibly the location of the entrance.
Extending SSW from the WNW end is an outshot overall 6m WNW/ESE by 4m with wall founds, where visible 0.8m thick and up to 0.3m high.

A rapid walk-over archaeological survey was carried out in 1999 by J. Wordsworth as part of the preparation for a planned Community Woodland in Knoydart.

Site 10: This building measures c17m E/W by 5m wide, with a division at 9m. The west end extends S for 4m by 4m, possibly for some form of porch. The building is badly overgrown with fairly mature ash and alder. Adjoining this to the east is another structure possibly 10m by 4m which is badly tumbled and heavily robbed, perhaps for building the road so that details are uncertain. To the northwest of the first building, against a natural rock outcrop, a small drystone store, c3m by 1.5m, has been built. Both buildings were shown roofed in 1873 and may have been used by cottars. <1>
