Full Description
NC70NW 95 7225 0651
The footings of three buildings are situated on a terrace to the SE of the roofed, but unoccupied, farmhouse and byre at East Langwell (NC 7218 0659). Two of the buildings (ROG95 293-4) form part of a scatter of buildings within the crofting settlement of East Langwell which are depicted as roofed on both the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1897, sheet xcvi) and the 2nd edition (Sutherland 1907, sheet xcvi). They measure 7.3m by 3.4m and 8.2m by 3m internally respectively, the former, with an entrance in both sides, probably being a barn. The third building (ROG95 292) is not depicted on the 1st or 2nd edition maps, and is much longer than the others, measuring 15.7m by 3.8m internally. The 1st and 2nd edition maps depict two roofed buildings to the NNE of the three structures, of which only one, an unoccupied dwelling, now remains.
