Full Description

The farmstead is shown as a single long building with a rectangular enclosure adjoining to its eastern side on the OS 1st Edition map where it is labelled 'Dailaneas'. Vertical aerial photography shows the building to have been of four rooms with probable remains of a second rectangular building at right angles to the first approximately 14m to the northeast, the southern wall of which appears to be incorporated into the enclosure. Vertical aerial photography also shows the dyke of what is likely to be an earlier enclosure partly overlain by the wall of the rectangular enclosure, the surviving stretch lying to the southeast. There is also a small circular feature, c.3.5m in diamater lying close to the southernmost corner of the (later?) rectangular enclosure at NGR 265365 954512, which may be the remains of a kiln. <1> <2>
