Full Description
In the area centred at NH 480 097 are the remains of twenty-one shielings set on a small plateau about halfway up the side of the valley of Allt Breinag at 1350ft. The shielings, now visible as grass covered banks and walls, can be divided into three types. A; oval, measuring 4.0m to 5.0m in length by 2.5m to 3.0m in width, B; rectangular, measuring 4.0m to 5.0m in length by 2.5m in width and C; circular, measuring 2.0m to 3.0m in diameter. The rectangular shielings, which are the best preserved of the group, are extant to a height of 0.6m, while the oval and circular ones are mainly only grass-covered banks about 0.2m high. Where entrances are still visible, they are all on the east. No name could be found.
