Towards the SE end of the Achiltibuie crofts there are the faced-rubble footings of four buildings, shown as unroofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Cromartyshire 1881, sheet iii), which may represent elements of the pre-crofting township. One building (ACHIL94 233), measuring 8.6m by 4.3m internally, is overlain by a croft boundary. One much larger building, measuring 32.9m by 2.9m internally (ACHIL94 237), has four compartments and is of at least two distinct phases of construction; the 1st edition map depicts a roofed building on one end of a foundation. This cluster of buildings also includes the only subrectangular building (ACHIL94 235) within the crofts. A midden-pit is situated outside the entrance to one building (ACHIL94 238).
These buildings lie in roughly the same location as a settlement ('Subtennants of Aicheltibuie'; NC 025 080) depicted on May's survey of Coigach in 1756 (SRO, RHP 85395).
