Full Description

There are four huts disposed in the largely heather-covered moorland on either side of the Badenscallie Burn about 750m NE of the public road that runs along the top end of Badenscallie. The huts are spread over a distance of about 300m from NW to SE by about 200m transversely, with three lying to the SE of the burn and the other to the NW. The NW hut, which is set against a rock outcrop on the N and lies to the W of an old stream course (ACHIL94 568, NC 0432 0723), is subrectangular on plan and measures about 2.6m from ESE to WNW by 2.5m transversely within drystone walls 0.5m high. The other three, which lie in the gully of the Badenscallie Burn and its tributaries, range from 3.9m to about 4.6m in length by about 1.5m to 2.6m in breadth within faced-rubble walls, 0.6m to 0.65m thick, or stony banks where poorly preserved. The westernmost of the group is well preserved, standing to 1m in height, with an outshot or earlier structure extending 1.6m to the NW (ACHIL94 565).
