Full Description

Linear feature, NGR NC 8585 0797 to 8607 0796 and NC 8607 0796 to 8711 0665. Approx. 2km long, straight for most of the length NNW - SSE, turning loch-wards after 1.7km, E - W for 0.2km. Dyke, or ridge, seems to be made of earth/peat, rather than stone. Located approximately 60m west of the Drove Road above Killin on the east of Loch Brora. Showing on aerial photographs. The northern end of this feature at Killin is shown on an estate map by David Aitkin dating to 1775 showing the ground and marches in dispute between Elizabeth, Countess of Sutherland, and John Gordon of Caroll Esq. It is labelled simply 'Dyke' and appears to enclose the full area of the Farm of Killin, though much of its course to the south is outwith the bounds of the map. <1>

This feature is clearly visible on vertical aerial photography. <2>
