Full Description
An unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1877, sheet xci), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1991).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 31 July 1996
Note; There appears to be an error in the georeferencing of the 1st Edition map which places this building incorrectly approximately 100 metres to the south west. (TB 8/8/25)
A rapid walk-over archaeological survey was carried out in 1999 by J. Wordsworth as part of the preparation for a planned Community Woodland in Knoydart.
Site 15a: The structure and dykes at Torr an Tighe are as shown on the current OS map. Only the unroofed building was shown on the earlier OS maps. The building is well-preserved being less bracken-clad than others such as site 7. It is a round ended drystone building 10m by 5m, aligned E/W, with drystone walls up to 1m high surviving. There is no sign of an entrance or of cruck slots. <1>
