Full Description
What may be a single unroofed shieling-hut is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet lxvi) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 22 May 1996.
As seen on vertical aerial photographs, this is quite a large building for a 'shieling hut' as it measures c.13m x 4m and may have been farmstead or perhaps a shepherd's house. It appears to sit at the northwestern end of a dyked enclosure on the north side of the River Doe, immediately adjacent but outwith which are two areas of lazybeds and possible shieling huts (see MHG). <1> <2>
