Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 24 April 1996

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment for the National Trust estate at Torridon was carried out by J Wordsworth and J Harden between 1996 and 1998. SHG

This is the site of west Coire township as marked on the 1837 estate map of the area. The site continued to be settled after Corry east was cleared, but eventually (by 1902) the buildings were cleared and the area remodelled to create kennels, etc.

South of the track between Torridon House and Inveralligin is Coire Church and its manse. Built around the turn of the 19th/20th century, they are sited in an area previously cultivated, with clearance cairns and enclosures. There are two earlier structures sited north of the track, one of which has a corrugated iron roof, the other being hardly visible. This area is shown as having been cultivated on the 1837 estate map but no roofed buildings are marked. <1>
