What may be an unroofed shieling-hut is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxiii) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1959).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 8 January 1996

This site could not be located during a walkover survey carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2011 in advance of a proposed windfarm at Bad a' Cheo. However, it must be stated that Headland erroneously state that in comparison with the OS 1st Edition map, the site lay outside the proposed development boundary. <1>

The site was also mentioned in the additional information produced in association with the Bad A' Cheo Windfarm Environmental Statement. <2>

A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were undertaken by Clyde Archaeology in 2023 in relation to a proposed underground cable south of Mybster, Caithness.

Site 48: As described on OS map. Positioned on the western bank of the Allt Aikergill. Coordinates amended slightly. <3>
