Full Description
An archaeological survey at Rothiemurchas was undertaken by Dr T C Welsh in 1993.
A 27m diameter mound, 2m high on shore of Loch an Eilein with trenches in four directions and central stone structure (hot-cross-bun shape). The trenches run approx SE to NW and NE to SW, but that on NE falls 2.5m short of structure and that on SW falls 3m short of perimeter of mound. All are 3 to 4 m wide and 1 or 2m floors. The structure is internally 2.7 x 2.1m, within wall 1.3 to 1.6m thick with no obvious vitrification. No obvious explanation. <1>
