Full Description
The remains of a rectangular building, 12m E-W by 6m, are situated on the East bank of the Mill Burn in Kilchoan. The building was partly demolished within the last ten years and has been reduced to a height of 1.60m with all the rubble placed in the interior. The door, now blocked with rubble, opened on the S side, flanked by large quoin stones. The wheel pit for a vertical wheel is still visible at the western end with the cast iron axle still in situ. A millstone stands next to the adjacent house.
Previously some of the interior equipment was still visible within the mill and was photographed by Mr. George Fox, Sunart Archives. A kiln occupied one end of the building.
