Full Description

Longhouse farm (ND 1655 5292), comprising;
A: Longhouse. Dimensions: 27 x 5m. Bipartite rectangular structure with a fireplace in the NE unit. It has an annexe attached to the NE end, 5 x 3m and a lean-to shed 2 x 2m built onto the long wall at the SW end. Orientation NE-SW.
B: Longhouse mill. Dimensions: 21 x 6m. Rectangular structure associated with mill machinery and a lade which leads from it still containing water. It lies at right angles to and 1m NW of A. Orientation NW-SE.
C: Enclosure. Dimensions: 17 x 17m. Enclosure formed by slabs set on edge.

Two roofed buildings, a lade and a sluice are depicted on the first edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxiii). One roofed building is shown (at ND 1655 5295) on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1976).
