A farmstead, comprising one unroofed building and an enclosure within a field is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1879, sheet civ). One unroofed building and one enclosure are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1969).

Innis Aonar. Footings of enclosures noted on the 6''OS map, and of a cruciform building and well-preserved corn-drying kiln were found (Macdonald 1995, fig 18).
NH 725 992 The long axis of the cruciform building is c16.5m by 2m, with the extensions being 4m by 2m and 3m by 2m, and slightly offset.
NH 725 991 Corn-drying kiln, with 1.5m bowl, flue opening to SE. (See MHG64743 for kiln)
NH 724 991 Oval outline of stones 4.6m by 2m.

NOTE: This farmstead may be part of the wider Dalnamein township.

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment was undertaken by A Coombs at Dalnamein for the Sutherland Longhouse Project, a community engagement project hosted by Historylinks Museum, Dornoch in 2019-20.

Site 62: The head dyke around the area called Innis Aonar. A large irregular enclosure with a stone and turf dyke.

Site 63: NH 72527 99088 A building with the north gable forming part of the enclosure 63. The building has an entrance on the SW wall. There is a later structure built into the SE corner, c. 1m diameter and c. 1.5m high. Structures similar to this have been associated with sheep farming so in this case would date from 1813.

Site 64: NH 72499 99109 An irregularly-shaped enclosure with building 63 at the east end.

Site 65; NH 72508 99120 A longhouse with 2 outshots, one on the NW, 3m by 3m, and a second on the SE, 7m by 3m. The building is covered with bracken.

Site 66; NH 72510 99117 A building immediately to the SE of house 65 with a narrow 1m gap between them. It has a west-facing entrance. It is bracken covered.

Site 67; NH 72506 99145 A building built into the head dyke to the north of house 65. It has a west-facing entrance. <4>
