A substantial settlement was shown here in 1875 on both sides of a small unnamed burn, five roofed and three unroofed buildings were shown as well as a sheepfold. An additional settlement was centred around the sheepfold shown at NM 5852 6253, eight roofed and one unroofed were shown in 1875 as well as an unroofed building at NM 5861 6249. Further roofed structures were shown to the south of the road where modern buildings are now shown. These buildings lie just outside the area of the present SSSI boundary. This has been a desk assessment area.

Nineteen roofed buildings, one of which has an unroofed compartment, six unroofed buildings, two enclosures, one of which is incomplete, and a field-system (NM 584 628) are depicted on the first edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1875, sheet xxv). Three roofed buildings, four enclosures, a sheepfold and the field-system are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1974).
